TRX-tenstive - TRX training is suspension training. Low-impact exercises are designed to tone and strengthen all muscles in your body. We use TRX straps that hang from an approved ceiling structure and work against gravity and each person’s own body weight to achieve a training affect. Your trainer will guide the group through fun, challenging and effective exercises for 1 hour each week.
Benefits: improves muscle strength, increases flexibility, improves core strength and the body’s ability to stabilize the bone structure, improves balance, builds body movement confidence.

Women on Weights - building muscle strength is the best way to increase your metabolism, burn fat, and stay healthy. We know that women, in particular, may wonder how to get started with weight training and wonder what they can do that won’t build bulk. That’s why we created Women on Weights. You’ll work with a knowledgeable trainer using many weight training tools in our fitness center to tone, sculpt and strengthen your muscles. Most participants see significant results in just 16 weeks of 1 hour classes. This is the most fun you will have weight training - you’ll be with a supportive group and the workouts are different every time.

Pilates Reformer - starting with the basic and effective principles of Pilates training, your knowledgeable trainer will guide you to complete a series of progressive exercises on the Reformer (a spring loaded bench). Sitting, standing and laying on the Reformer, the spring resistance challenges the lower and upper body. Every exercise requires core stabilization and engages the muscles of the abdominals, back, gluts and pelvis. After 16 classes you will feel the difference in your core muscles and notice strength in your posture. This is an exercise that you can do for a lifetime.
Benefits: strengthens the core muscles, improves posture, helps prevent injury from training, relieves back and hip pain.

Pilates Reformer Jumpboard - Combine the core focus of Pilates Reformer with the cardiovascular challenge of jumping and you have your 1 hour workout done! The Reformer-trained instructor intelligently organizes the class to optimize fluid transitions between strength work and interval jumping.
Benefits: improves leg and core strength, stabilizes back and abdominal muscles for functional fitness, speeds metabolism.

Barre Beat - using a ballet barre, your instructor coaches you through small isometric movements set to fantastic music. The technique protects your joints while targeting abs, hips, seat and arms. It’s an uplifting workout. As long as you can hold on to the barre you can do Barre Beat - no dance experience is necessary! The positions and movements are basic, it’s how deep you work in them that makes the difference.

Learn to Play Tennis - tennis is a great social sport that challenges your mental and physical self to keep up with the pace of life. Whether you played in high school but not since, or have never picked up a racquet we’ll get you on the courts and volleying with success quickly. Our progressive approach to tennis is achievable and rewarding. The Thoreau Club Tennis Pros are thoughtful and patient with beginners and can’t wait to see you playing and having fun in our social or competitive matches.

Masters Swim - a swim workout of ~3000 yards including drills and technique work for short and long distance swimming. We’ll provide the coaching you need to either stay fit or improve your swimming ability to reach your personal goals. At this time, this is not a competitive program.
Benefits: increase cardiovascular strength, improved lung capacity, improve swimming technique all with no impact to your joints.
