 Welcome to The Thoreau Club

"Community" is a word that has a special meaning to The Thoreau Club. We love that we are a community of members and employees, and we believe we have created the feeling of community when members and guests experience the Club. We are also part of the community in which we operate our business.

This fall, we are teaming up with Emerson Hospital to bring you 3G - A Family Adventure.  This month long program provides families with a wide variety of wellness programs while benefiting Emerson Hospital's cancer care programs.

The word community is in our mission statement: “We are a family of dedicated employees who strive to be a superior service organization with the goal of creating and delivering educational and recreational services and programs in a relaxed, safe & caring environment. These services and programs are made available to those in our community who want to experience self-fulfillment in a combination of mind, body & spirit relationships. We want to be the place where friends and families belong.”

Being that community is an integral part of our business and mission, we take pride in our involvement in our community. This past year we have been approached by a variety of communities asking for our assistance. These requests often are in the form of donations, sponsorships, scholarships, raffle prizes, advertisements, etc. The list is long and quite diverse. We not only enjoy being asked, but enjoy saying yes to all the requests we possibly can. Some recent examples of our community involvement include being one of the chief financial sponsors of the Concord Carlisle Community Chest Auction, participation in over 60 local auctions, and donations to over 100 local fund raisers and charity drives. Uncountable staff hours have been volunteered by The Thoreau Club staff in the community to help in a multitude of ways. Many of our staff hold positions on community related boards and committees improving and enhancing the community. The list literally goes on and on.

So why do I take the time to talk about community with you? Why is it so important? Community is important because as a member of The Thoreau Club community, we want you to be proud to be associated with us. We as a staff want to be proud of where we work and our contribution and involvement in people’s lives. And finally, as a community, we recognize that without trying to improve the quality of each others lives through real actions, we will have not succeeded in improving our little niche of the world; our little community.

In Health & Happiness,

Faith Pulis,
President/CEO
